DON’T YOU LOVE IT WHEN . . .

 

This is the first in a continuing light hearted series of observations at the sometimes challenging lives us folks on the blind side face from time to time. No politics here. Just what I hope to be humorous and entertaining snippets. As the directions on the boxes often say, Enjoy!

 

DON’T YOU LOVE IT WHEN . . .

You’re walking along to your destination and a friend you know drive by, sees you, and circles back around to pick you up and take you we’re you’re going?

 

In many parts of the country weather can get extreme. Here in Texas the time of year when weather is the most extreme for us is in the summer months. It is not uncommon for temperatures to nudge the 90’s as early as June. So you can imagine how hot it gets in July and August. All I have to say is TGFAC! And, of course, other parts of the country have their special weather challenges too. Winters in New York or Iowa can have chillingly brutal effects on one’s travel plans for sure.

Often times my wife and I, like many of you, walk to where we are going if the distance isn’t too far and the weather is cooperative. Not too long ago after picking up our guide dogs from the groomers we decided that it was a good day to walk the mile back to our house. So off we went. It was a nice walk. Sun shiny and a little breeze but starting to get a bit toasty as we went along. Anyway, the kids were having fun doing their dog thing and enjoying the outdoors. The cool thing was that as we waited at an intersection for the light to change in our favor one of our neighbors pulled up and offered to take us the rest of the way home. So we took him up on the offer. It must have been a pretty funny sight for anyone driving by. Kind of like one of those clown cars you see at the circus where the clowns just keep coming out. Only in reverse, as two adults and two labs piled into our friend’s back seat for the short ride home. And we made it home safely and in a fraction of the time.
